OGA National AGM – Limehouse – Jan 16th 2010
Brian Hammett passed the Tiller to Mike Shaw as Association President at the A.G.M. held at Limehouse on Saturday. Brian served an extra year before handing over to Mike, who had been serving on the G.M.C. in preparation for the change.

In his final address Brian reported a healthy state of affairs in the areas which he had visited during his period in office. Funds stood at £39, 400 at the end of the year compared with £33,355 the previous year. In the afternoon at the larger National Committee Meeting he had made a strong proposal for re-organisation of the G.M.C. to help the further development of the O.G.A.

Before handing over to Mike Shaw, Brian awarded Peter Lyons his pennant as an Elder Gaffer and thanked him for his long services to the O.G.A.

It was also announced that Phil Slade would temporarily take over as the editor of the Gaffers Log following the resignation of Keith Watson. A new editor is urgently sought.

The meeting agreed all proposed changes to the rules as suggested in the recent Gaffers Log with one or two small amendments.

Sue Farrar awarded the National prizes
1. Cape Horne Trophy to Bob Angel
2. Grumpy Two Cups to Stephen Clarkeson & Matthew Wiley
3. Janty Cup to Hannah Goram
4. Gaffers Tales Trophy to David Grainger
5. Seamanship Award for the Trailer Section to Gordon Bourne

Nick Miller was thanked for looking after the National Boat Register for the last 15 years. During the earlier afternoon Committee Meeting it was agreed that a sub-committee would look into the possibility of merging of the new East Coast Boat Register electronic web based system with the OGA National Archive.

It was also agreed that to support the other manpower changes, the specification of the G.O.D. database would be written up and agreed by the G.M.C. prior to any further development work being carried out on this system.
