Membership
Membership of the OGA is held Centrally, not on the East Coast. Currently (Jan 2009) subscription levels are £27 single member, (£25 by Direct Debit); £30 Family Member (£28 by Direct Debit) and £5 Junior. You don't have to own an old gaffer to belong to the OGA, it is the interest in traditional gaff rigged craft and the sailing thereof which is important. Payment may be made by cheque, direct debit and PayPal. Euro payers may also pay directly through their bank. Please click the link to the central OGA site.
The OGA has approximately 1400 members world- wide. The organisation is based on a main Central Adminstration, which handles membership, a central archive, a website, general policy matters and consultations with official bodies, such as Government and EU. The Sailng Activity and social side is handled by area organisations in the British Isles. There are independent OGA organisations in France, Netherlands/ Belgium and Australia.
Members of the OGA receive the "Gaffers Log" which is produced by the Central OGA. If you are based on the East Coast, you also receive separately "Eastcoaster", the local area newsletter. Areas receive a per capita injection from the Central organisation to help with regional organisation and payment to cover part of the costs of the Newsletter, Eastcoaster; however most events are self-supporting from entry fees and donations.
To join the OGA click here for the Central OGA Website, which has membership and direct debit forms which can be downloaded to your computer. You can also join and pay your subscription on-line.
If you are on the East Coast, please could you also add your boat to the
East Coast Old Gaffers Boat Register. Read more about the Boat Register on
this site To access the site and add your boat details you will need
to obtain a unique password from Pete Thomas after you have joined and have
a membership number.

(1) Bermudan boats ignore "head" measurement on mainsail
(2) Fore Triangle is measured from highest jib sheave to deck, no account is taken of actual foresails.
 |
Tips: Take the measurements from your sails for mains'l, tops'l and miz'n.
For the fore triangle measure highest jib sheave to deck, and bowsprit sheave to mast.
